Drama as Olamide and Don Jazzy fight eachother at Headies awards

It was a very dramatic award ceremony at the 2015 Headies held in the early hours of today, 2nd of January 2016 as two of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry Don Jazzy and Olamide openly threw harsh words at each other over the outcome of the much converted  “Next Rated Award”.

The Next Rated Award which is arguably the biggest award of the night comes with a lot of recognition (and the bonus of a brand new Hyundai Car).

The favorite for the award Lil Kesh (Signed under Olamide's YBNL record) surprisingly failed to win the award as it went to Mavin artist Reekado Banks.

Apparently this angered Olamide so he stormed unto the stage when Adekunle Gold (Another YBNL artiste)  received his award for Best Alternative artiste alongside the whole YBNL crew,

Olamide snatched the microphone from Adekunle Gold and angrily blasted Headies saying the award should have gone to Lil Kesh as he had back to back hit songs all year round. Olamide stated “Iyalaya anybody” and flipped off the whole hall before dumping the microphone on the stage and storming off  the venue with his crew.

Just when we thought things had ended, Don Jazzy was given a Special Recognition award and in his speech he stated that he has never liked awards and the only reason he came for the show was to support his “children”. He also stated that he had told Reekado Banks and Korede Bello (who were both nominated for Next Rated) that he’d buy cars for them.

Don Jazzy ended the night with a bombshell saying “Egbon Olamide, if you want the car come and collect it”. He and the Mavin artists also angrily left the venue.

Watch video of Don Jazzy's epic response below...

Olamide was not even present to receive his 'Artiste of the year' award.

And the beef did not end there as Olamide took to Twitter to continue venting...

His Tweets below...

2016 is surely going to be  very intresting. The beef is on OLAMIDE vs DON JAZZY

Don Jazzy has been producing stars who uplift the industry and must be recognised. This sort of childish behaviour from Olamide happens when AJ boy becomes famous amidst hopelessness.

But when God blesses you dont allow the blessings to manage you but you are to manage the blessing otherwise you end up telling people that you are not yet mature to handle the blessings. Even if you want to make a point or air your opinion this is not just the right way and words cos right now it shows that you had this dude in mind long b4 now and you have been waiting for this opportunity esp when even after the show you still didnt slow down but adding more true and false story line esp. that of Dbang who you and i know murdered himself. 1. You've got the common sense of all the commenter. Eni jale lara n fun. A thief becomes suspicious of himself. Young Olamide made his claim known, you've the right to judge it, not mentioning anybody's name. Don J came buffing him trying to defend his guilty conscience.
He should gave allowed the organizers to do that. We all knew how it use to be during the days of kennis music empire.
I think this is a display of corruption in another form which an average Nigerian most kick against. I would do the same thing if I were Olamide though completely but right on that very stage. don't be a coward.
If Nigerians can have this attitude our leaders will lead us in fear. Next time the organizer will think twice before taking a bribe

Timi dakolo won the Idol but Omowunmi won the hearts of the fans. Different strokes for different folks. People see things differently. Delete
    4. @Eric that's the point.
An average Nigerian is a coward and that's why corruption thrives every where. The organizer will think twice before collecting money for award. If they are not buoyant enough to stage they shouldn't have thought of it cos it was not forced on them.
If the award was based on voting how then does an artiste that his works has been voted as hit songs back to back is not voted for the award.
Can someone shake his head and thunk straight.
Fundamental problems about this country is our coward attitude and inability to think/judge/decide right.
Olamide has done what seems good to him. He'll still rock the studio and we'll still rock his music. Badoo for life

Nothing is impossible in naira, after all Nduka obaigbena of thisday sold awards to highest bidder. However, the headies should step up their game, the whole show was tarky and full of mistakes. Most of them will come back and blame the government and the general population for negligence, fundraising here and there to take care of their daily needs and hospital bills. Let's face it, he didn't mention ur name, he rather purine out his mind to the judges not reccado nor u d boss. What I expect from u when u came out is to use ur elderly brain to afterword, we'v won it. U even went ahead to say u don't like award when u v 4gotten how u used to fight back den when u had D'banj n wande Cole to be d only band/record label to have dominated d whole show winning back to back. 62. Nigerians! We re too sentimental in many cases. Only God naim make naija still be one. Olamide started this chaos. He should have been matured enough to hide his disappointment. Imagine what he's teaching his boys and all those who look up to him as a role model; when you don't get your expectation, say what you feel because you think that is right.... And moreover, who else did he address his speech to if not the Mavins Crew? Is it the president of Nigeria. He should be in a better position to know that its a vote thing and of course, even if he suspects foul play, his actions haven't given Lil Kesh the award. On Don Jazzy's part, he was angry, I think, about Olamide's action. Mentioning names isn't an offense to me. If Olamide really had street guts, he should have been specific, but Don J was specific which showed he's ready to defend any accusation. Finally, this isn't an award battle: there's something we all haven't heard of that's the root of this war. #MyThoughts
