Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Composite Brigade have killed two suspected kidnappers and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a follow-up operation in Edimogbo Forest, Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to a statement issued late Tuesday by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the operation took place on November 3, 2026. It followed an earlier raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in the same forest on November 2, during which the troops made contact with the criminals.
The follow-up mission focused on tracking the fleeing suspects and clearing remaining hideouts. Items recovered included two AK-47 rifles, seven magazines, 438 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 ammunition, 4,725 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two bandoliers, two mobile phones, and a power bank.
The Army said the successful operation consolidates the gains from the previous day’s raid and demonstrates the brigade’s determination to maintain pressure on criminal elements operating in its area of responsibility.
“Troops have continued to dominate the general area, with their morale and fighting efficiency remaining high,” the statement added.
The 12 Composite Brigade has been working alongside the Kogi State Police Command and other security agencies to combat kidnapping in parts of the state.
