Five suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the abduction of 20 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Imo State.
According to reports, the arrests were made during a coordinated operation involving the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the military.
The corps members, who were kidnapped while travelling through the state, regained their freedom after spending several days in captivity.
Their ordeal prompted security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators.
A security source described the arrests as a “huge sigh of relief,” noting that the agencies had sustained a wide-ranging manhunt for the abductors.
“We strongly believe they will be charged to court by DSS and the corps members will get justice,” the source added.
The development has been welcomed as a significant breakthrough in the fight against insecurity in Imo State, where abductions have become a recurring concern.
