Specialist divers from the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), working alongside the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), have recovered additional components from the wreckage of the NAF ATR 42-500 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The NAF confirmed on Wednesday that the multi-agency teams have sustained round-the-clock underwater search and recovery operations, supported by hydrographic surveys and satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery.
To aid access, mud excavation and water pumping have also been deployed at the crash site. Officials said the newly recovered aircraft parts will be documented and preserved to support the ongoing investigation into the accident.
The recovery effort shows the coordinated approach of Nigeria’s military and aviation safety agencies in piecing together evidence critical to understanding the cause of the crash.
