Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the implementation of the corrected Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and a new Professional Allowance Table for nurses and allied health workers in the state.
The approval was contained in a memo from the Office of the Head of Service dated October 19, 2026.
It followed an earlier directive by the governor for a committee to comprehensively review the salaries and allowances of medical officers and allied health workers employed by the state government.
The committee completed its assignment and submitted a final report with recommendations aimed at improving the welfare, remuneration, and working conditions of healthcare professionals.
Key recommendations included an enhanced entry point for qualified graduate nurses and medical laboratory scientists, in line with relevant Federal Government circulars, to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the retention of skilled professionals.
The committee also recommended that deployment and posting details of nurses and allied health workers be forwarded to the Office of the Head of Service to facilitate the processing of Rural Allowance for eligible personnel serving in rural areas, as well as an upward review of professional allowances.
After reviewing the submissions, the Office of the Head of Service made its recommendations, which the governor approved.
These include advancing medical laboratory scientists currently on Grade Level 09 to Grade Level 10, effective from the dates of their present appointments, to maintain seniority.
The governor also approved the proposed Professional Allowance Table for nurses and allied health workers.
The Chairman of the Kwara State Civil Service Commission has been directed to implement the advancement of medical laboratory scientists, while the Commissioner for Finance has been instructed to make the necessary arrangements for the new measures.
