The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has declared a Nigerian woman, Emuobosan Emmanuella Hall, wanted after she allegedly escaped custody at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport before commencing an eight-year prison sentence.
Hall had been convicted by a US federal court on fraud-related charges and was due to begin serving her sentence when she reportedly disappeared during processing at the airport. US authorities said the circumstances surrounding her escape remain unclear, raising questions about how she managed to evade security at one of the world's busiest and most heavily secured airports.
Following her disappearance, the FBI announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to her arrest and prosecution. In a statement, the Bureau urged members of the public to assist in locating the fugitive.
“Anyone with information concerning Emuobosan Emmanuella Hall should contact their local FBI office and will be rewarded with $5,000,” the agency stated. According to authorities, Hall was linked to a fraud network accused of swindling multiple American citizens out of millions of dollars before her arrest, trial and conviction.
Her disappearance has sparked concerns over possible security lapses during inmate processing procedures at the Atlanta airport.
The FBI said efforts to locate and re-arrest Hall are ongoing, assuring that investigators are pursuing all available leads to bring her back into custody.
The agency also called on anyone with credible information about her whereabouts, either within the United States or abroad, to come forward and assist law enforcement.
