Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of abandoning positions he once strongly defended.
Speaking during an interview on TVC on Wednesday, Oshiomhole said Amaechi had become politically inconsistent and was now taking positions that contradicted his previous support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.
According to the former Edo State governor, Amaechi's recent criticisms of the APC-led administration stand in sharp contrast to the views he expressed while serving in government.
Oshiomhole argued that the former Minister of Transportation had lost political direction and was changing positions to suit his current political interests.
“Amaechi is contradicting his past positions. He has lost direction politically,” Oshiomhole said. The former APC National Chairman further described Amaechi’s recent comments on national issues as hypocritical, insisting that they do not reflect the interests of ordinary Nigerians.
He urged Nigerians to disregard the former Rivers State governor’s criticism of the current administration, maintaining that Amaechi’s record in public office does not place him in a strong position to attack the government. Oshiomhole also questioned the credibility of Amaechi’s recent political arguments, stating that the former minister’s actions and comments over the years were inconsistent with the position he now seeks to project.
The exchange adds to the growing war of words among leading political figures as parties and coalitions intensify activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
