The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has asserted that key opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and the Accord Party have aligned with the ruling party’s campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Yilwatda made the claim after meeting President Tinubu at the State House alongside Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
He said the development reflected growing political support for the President and confirmed that preparations were complete for the campaign flag-off in Kaduna on Saturday, October 24.
According to Yilwatda, the APC has attracted support from parties that previously defeated it in elections, describing this as evidence of broadening political alignment.
However, he did not clarify whether the support represented formal endorsements by party leadership or informal alliances by individual members.
“We’ll flag-off the campaign on Saturday, 24th of October… everything is set; the preparation is on, the members are motivated, the states, the committees are ready,” he said.
Speaking separately, Yari promised an issue-based campaign focused on Tinubu’s achievements rather than personal attacks.
He stressed that the APC would present records of government performance as the foundation for seeking another mandate.
“This is what our party did, this is what our government did… we are asking Nigerians to look at this record carefully so that they give us a second chance for continuity,” Yari stated.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council, inaugurated on October 14, is chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and Yilwatda as vice chairmen, while Yari oversees daily coordination.
Kaduna has been designated as the venue for the nationwi
de campaign launch.
