A solidarity walk in Gusau, Zamfara State, meant to show support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, took an unexpected turn when sections of the crowd chanted opposition leader Atiku Abubakar’s name instead of Tinubu’s.
In a video from the event, participants were heard shouting “Sai Atiku” during the rally organized to celebrate Tinubu’s appointment of former Zamfara governor Abdul’aziz Yari as Director-General of his Presidential Campaign Council.
The walk was coordinated by the A.A. Yari Political Organisation, the Shehu Movement Organisation, and the Yari 774 Initiative for Asiwaju 2027.
Organizers described Yari’s appointment as a strategic move to strengthen the APC ahead of the polls.
Speaking at the rally, Zamfara APC Chairman Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji assured that Tinubu would secure overwhelming support from the state in the 2027 elections.
President Tinubu recently unveiled his campaign council, with Yari named as its Director-General, signaling the party’s preparations for the forthcoming general elections.
