Osun APC Warns Police of Alleged PDP Plot to Seize LG Secretariats

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised alarm over what it described as a planned invasion of local government council secretariats by purported Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executives.

In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC alleged that PDP chairmen and councillors were preparing to take over all 30 council secretariats and the Area Office with the backing of political thugs recruited within and outside the state.

The party claimed the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke had emboldened the PDP faction, accusing them of working in collaboration with officials of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).

It further cited a Supreme Court ruling that described the PDP council executives as “persons unknown to the law.”

The APC urged the Osun State Police Command, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to act swiftly to prevent any disruption of public peace.

The statement also recalled the killing of APC council chairman Remi Abass of Irewole Local Government, allegedly by suspected PDP thugs now facing trial in Abuja.

The party emphasized that the dispute over council tenure remains before the Court of Appeal in Akure and insisted that any action outside the legal process would amount to “monumental illegality.”

As of press time, the Osun PDP and the state government had not responded to the allegations.
