Nigerian troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA have launched coordinated airstrikes against suspected terrorists in Yankuzo, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, reportedly killing several fighters.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a post on X, citing local sources.
He said five military aircraft carried out the operation on the evening of September 7, 2026, targeting armed groups entrenched in the community.
Among those killed was a fighter identified as Isiya Gurgu, believed to be a close associate of notorious bandit leader Musa Commander, who is linked to the Ado Aleru network.
Several other fighters were wounded.Sources noted that the military exercised caution to avoid civilian casualties, focusing strikes on individuals carrying weapons or dressed in military-style uniforms.
Yankuzo has long been considered a stronghold of armed groups tied to Ado Aleru, with residents facing persistent threats from fighters operating in the area.
Authorities are still assessing the full impact of the operation.
