Kebbi ADC Candidate Sues Party, INEC Over Alleged Illegal Replacement

Abubakar Labbo Gwandu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives candidate for Gwandu Federal Constituency in Kebbi State, has filed a lawsuit against his party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alleging that he was unlawfully replaced.

The suit, lodged at the Federal High Court in Birnin Kebbi, also lists Muhammad Umar Jega and Mansur Musa Jega as defendants.

Labbo claims he won the ADC primary election but was later substituted without his consent, first by Umar Jega and subsequently by Mansur Musa Jega.

According to him, the replacements were facilitated through financial inducements.

“I won the primaries but was later replaced with Umar Jega, and he was also replaced by Mansur Musa Jega after allegedly giving a huge graft to Wambai, who facilitated my replacement after I was declared by INEC as the winner of the primaries,” Labbo alleged.

He insisted that he remains the legitimate candidate produced by the party’s primary election and approached the court to seek justice and restore his mandate.

The case reportedly had its first hearing before the court went on vacation. Labbo emphasized that he was neither consulted nor asked to consent to the replacement, describing the move as a violation of due process.
