'I Don’t Regret it’ – Aisha Yesufu Reveals Why She Voted APC in 2015

Prominent activist and Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain, Aisha Yesufu, has revealed that her decision to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 presidential election was driven by the party’s choice of Yemi Osinbajo as its vice-presidential candidate.

Speaking on the Kaa Truth podcast, Yesufu clarified that her support was not for Muhammadu Buhari, who headed the APC ticket, but for Osinbajo, whom she believed would play a key role in managing Nigeria’s economy.

She explained that reports at the time suggested Buhari would delegate major responsibilities to Osinbajo, similar to how he relied on Tunde Idiagbon during his military rule.

“I didn’t vote for that ticket because of Buhari but because of Pastor Yemi Osinbajo. Buhari was known to delegate duties, and they said Osinbajo would be in charge of the economy,” she said.

Yesufu added that she does not regret her choice, noting that the poor performance of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration made Buhari’s candidacy more acceptable to Nigerians in 2015.

“It was Jonathan that made Buhari acceptable. We had someone who had done so badly, and by 2015, we voted for APC,” she explained.
