Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has carried out another minor cabinet reshuffle, redeploying four commissioners in what marks his fourth shake-up of the year.
The Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Umar Musa Ikhilor, announced the changes in a statement issued in Benin City on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
Redeployed CommissionersDr Felix Ehiguese Akhabue – moved from Ministry of Water Resources to Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.Barrister Vincent Osas Uwadiae – redeployed from Physical Planning and Urban Development to Ministry of Water Resources.
Hon. Andrew Momodu – shifted from Communications and Digital Economy back to Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources.Prof Omorodion Ikponmwosa – transferred from Oil and Gas Resources to Communications and Digital Economy.
Ikhilor explained that the redeployment takes immediate effect and is aimed at strengthening governance, improving service delivery, and enhancing efficiency in state administration.
Governor Okpebholo urged the commissioners to apply their expertise in their new roles while remaining committed to his SHINE Agenda for Edo’s sustainable development.
Previous Shake-Ups in 2026
January 30: Chief of Staff Gani Audu redeployed to Oil and Gas Resources as commissioner-designate.
April 6: Commissioner for Works Felix Akhabue moved to Water Resources, leaving the Works Ministry under a permanent secretary.
August 13: Prof Omorodion Ikponmwosa, suspended in July, reinstated and redeployed to Oil and Gas Resources.
The latest reshuffle underscores Okpebholo’s continued adjustments to his team as political and administrative activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
