Barely two days before the Osun State governorship election, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, has allegedly attacked Francis Eniade, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ifelodun, Boripe, and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency.
A viral image circulating on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday showed Eniade in a pool of blood, with reports claiming several others were injured and vehicles destroyed during the incident.
One user wrote: “Speaker Wale Egbedun just attacked Eniade. Dozens were injured, and several cars were destroyed. Where are the so-called neutrals to condemn this?”
The Osun State Police Command has yet to confirm the development as of press time.
Egbedun, a staunch supporter of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, had earlier called for the arrest of Senator Francis Fadahunsi and Eniade over alleged inciting remarks.
Fadahunsi appeared before police on Wednesday following his controversial “Kill Accord Party supporters” statement.
Meanwhile, the governorship race is set to pit Adeleke against Bola Oyebamiji of the APC and Dr. Francis Ajala of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), whose candidacy was officially cleared this week.
