The All Progressives Congress (APC) staged a mega rally in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Wednesday as part of its final mobilisation efforts ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Leading the charge were Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Progressive Governors Forum Chairman, Hope Uzodimma, joined by several APC governors and party leaders.
Among them were Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and House of Representatives member James Faleke.
The rally, held on the last day of the official campaign period, was aimed at boosting support for APC governorship candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who emerged from the party’s primary in Osogbo.
Oyebamiji faces stiff competition from incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, alongside candidates from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The campaign season has been marred by rising tension and violence, with opposition parties accusing APC of leveraging federal influence to suppress rivals.
Last week, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) froze the Osun State Government’s account, but President Bola Tinubu intervened, ordering the immediate unfreezing of the funds.
The mega rally drew APC leaders, supporters, and campaign coordinators from across Osun’s 30 local government areas, setting the stage for Saturday’s high-stakes election.
