Prominent African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dele Momodu, has described the upcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026, as a direct contest between incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke and President Bola Tinubu.
Momodu made the remark on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He argued that the election transcends local politics, framing it as a test of influence between Adeleke’s leadership in Osun and Tinubu’s political dominance at the national level.
The statement underscores the heightened stakes surrounding the poll, which observers say could serve as a litmus test for broader political alignments ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
