NSA Ribadu Leads Nigerian Delegation to US Over Rising Insecurity


The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, on Wednesday led a high-level Nigerian delegation to Washington, DC, for the United States–Nigeria Joint Working Group meeting on security cooperation.


The talks centered on counterterrorism efforts, progress made so far, and strategies for strengthening bilateral security collaboration. A separate defence meeting is scheduled for Thursday.


This visit comes against the backdrop of Nigeria’s recent designation as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) by US President Donald Trump, a move highlighting Washington’s concerns over insecurity and human rights issues.


The delegation includes key government officials:

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu - Minister of Foreign Affairs

Christopher Musa – Minister of 

DefenceTaiwo Oyedele – Minister of 

FinanceOlubunmi Tunji-Ojo – Minister of Interior

Lateef Fagbemi – Attorney-General of the Federation

Sola Enikanolaiye – Minister of State for Foreign Affairs


The meetings are expected to shape the next phase of Nigeria–US defence cooperation and address pressing challenges posed by terrorism and insecurity across Nigeria.
