Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has inaugurated a 600-member campaign council of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State, urging unity, reconciliation, and issue-based politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the event on Wednesday, Malami said the council’s formation marked the beginning of a coordinated grassroots mobilisation effort across the state’s 21 local government areas.
He stressed that the council was deliberately structured to reflect Kebbi’s diversity, with members drawn from different communities and senatorial districts.
“This Campaign Council represents our collective ADC campaign. It is not about one candidate or one elective position. From the governorship to the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, we must work as one political family,” Malami declared.
He acknowledged ADC’s senatorial candidates, including Gen. Aminu Bande (Kebbi Central), Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South), and Alhaji Mera (Kebbi North), alongside other National and State Assembly aspirants.
Malami urged members to avoid tribalism, sectionalism, and rivalry, warning that internal divisions could weaken the party’s chances. He called for reconciliation and trust-building, introducing the theme “One ADC, One Campaign” to emphasise collective interest over personal ambition.
He cautioned against inflammatory rhetoric, hate speech, and ethnic insults, stressing that political competition must not destroy community bonds.
“After the elections, we will still worship together, attend the same markets, celebrate together, mourn together and raise our children together. No political ambition is worth destroying those bonds,” he said.
Malami described the appointments as a call to service, tasking members to mobilise supporters, reconcile aggrieved members, and communicate the party’s programmes at the grassroots. He concluded with a rallying message:
“We choose unity over division. We choose cooperation over rivalry. We choose reconciliation over bitterness. Let us arise together in service to our people. And together, let us make Kebbi State shine. Arise and Shine!”
