Dauda Lawal, Soludo, Gbajabiamila to represent Nigeria at investment summit in Canada

Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara State, will represent Nigeria at the maiden Canada-Africa Investment Summit.

The maiden summit will be held in Toronto from Monday, August 10, to Friday 15.

The summit will bring together government officials, investors, multinational companies, and development finance institutions to explore investment opportunities and partnerships between Canada and African countries.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson to the governor, said Lawal was invited by the presidency to participate in the summit.

Idris said the invitation indicated the governor’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic engagement at the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference (NDIEC).

He said the summit aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s economic agenda and the national energy transition plan to strengthen Nigeria’s role in Africa-Canada economic cooperation.

Idris noted that Lawal would use the summit to seek investment, technology transfer, development funding, and technical partnerships for Zamfara.

“Governor Lawal’s involvement in the Canada-Africa Investment Summit will help position Zamfara state as Nigeria’s emerging hub for agribusiness, strategic minerals development, human capital growth, and digital innovation,” the statement reads.

Other members of the Nigerian delegation include: Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to the president, Charles Soludo, Anambra state governor, Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, and Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau.

Other delegates are Bianca Odum Egwu-Ojukwu, minister of foreign affairs; Jumoke Oduwole, minister of industry, trade and investment, and Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, minister of interior.
