A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Joe Igbokwe, has criticised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the Accord Party ahead of the governorship election.
Igbokwe described Adeleke’s decision as an “unbelievable
mistake,” arguing that the governor should have joined the ruling APC,
particularly given President Bola Tinubu’s family ties to Osun State.
The APC chieftain stated this in a post on his official
Facebook page.
He wrote: “Governor Adeleke made an unbelievable mistake
when he left PDP to the Accord Party instead of joining APC knowing fully well
that PBAT has a family link with Osun State Nigeria.”
Adeleke is contesting Saturday’s
governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party after leaving the
PDP.
The governor has, however, raised concerns over alleged
intimidation and harassment of his supporters by agents of the Federal
Government.
Adeleke recently alleged that some of his supporters had
been arrested and killed in what he described as an attempt to frustrate his
re-election bid.
He further accused some Federal Government institutions of
being used to undermine his campaign ahead of the election.
