Pelumi Olajengbesi, campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has threatened to sue Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East, for ₦10 billion over alleged defamation and injurious falsehood.
In a letter dated August 12, 2026, and sent by his lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, Olajengbesi described statements made by Fadahunsi during live television interviews as malicious and damaging to his reputation.
He demanded an immediate retraction and an unequivocal public apology within 24 hours, failing which he would institute legal proceedings.
The letter cited two interviews. On July 2, 2026, during a live appearance on Viable TV that was widely shared on social media, Fadahunsi allegedly stated that Olajengbesi was “not even from the same Ijebu-Jesha” but “from somewhere in Ogun State,” and accused him of “using thugs, Eiye and Aye.”
On August 11, 2026, while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Fadahunsi allegedly said, while referring to the late Ajayi Aderogba (also known as Rogba): “Rogba is an Eiye man sponsored by Barr. Olajengbesi terrorising the whole … my own territory up and down through all these Eiye and Aye.”
Olajengbesi’s lawyers said the statements questioned his origin as a son of Ijebu-Jesa and imputed that he sponsors, associates with, or deploys members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups for political activities and to terrorise the public.
They described the claims as false, defamatory and gravely injurious to his personal, professional and political standing as a legal practitioner, public figure and candidate for elective office.
Olajengbesi denied ever sponsoring, financing, supporting or providing resources to any cult group or authorising anyone to intimidate or attack members of the public on his behalf.
He demanded that Fadahunsi retract the statements on the same platforms on which they were made and publish an unreserved public apology in national media and on social media.
Should the senator fail to comply within 24 hours, Olajengbesi’s lawyers said they would approach the court seeking ₦10 billion in general and aggravated damages.
