A leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Fabiyi Oladimeji, has declared that no presidential candidate from the South can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV on Friday, Oladimeji insisted that only the ADC candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has the political strength to unseat Tinubu.
His comments came amid the formation of a coalition of 100 prominent Nigerian political stakeholders, known as the G-100, aimed at uniting opposition parties ahead of the polls.
“The only person that can push Tinubu out is Atiku Abubakar except they want to deceive themselves. No southerner can defeat Tinubu today. It’s a popular view, opinion and fact,” Oladimeji said.
He emphasized that the coalition’s success would depend on sincerity of purpose and commitment to democratic principles, urging Nigerians to await the outcome of the G-100 meeting.
Olademiji added that continued dialogue among opposition leaders was crucial to “rescuing the country” and ensuring a credible alternative in 2027.
