Accord Party is Leading so They’re Withdrawing Security – Dino Alleges Rigging

Former Senator Dino Melaye has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is attempting to rig the ongoing Osun State governorship election by withdrawing security personnel from polling units and collation centres.

In a video shared on his X account on Saturday, Melaye claimed the Accord Party was currently leading in the poll. He accused the APC of planning to pull soldiers and use compromised police officers to facilitate electoral malpractice.

“APC trying to withdraw soldiers from Osun and trying to use compromised police officers to rig the elections. No withdrawal…… Don’t destroy Nigeria,” Melaye stated in the post accompanying the video.

The allegations come as voting and early result collation continue in the August 15, 2026, governorship election, in which incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking re-election on the Accord Party platform against the APC’s candidate and other contenders.

Melaye’s claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate public response from the APC, security agencies, or the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) specifically addressing the withdrawal allegation at the time of reporting.
