Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of his elder brother as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
In a video posted on his Facebook page on Monday, Isaac Fayose questioned the timing and motive behind the appointment, claiming it was a reaction to Peter Obi’s recent visit to his brother.
President Tinubu had on Monday appointed Ayodele Fayose as chairman of the REA alongside 25 others into various federal government agencies.
Reacting to the development, Isaac Fayose said: “Just days after Mr Peter Obi visited me, they appointed my brother as a DG. Why didn’t they give him the appointment all these while?”
He further noted that his brother was not offered a higher position such as minister or ambassador, adding, “Even Reno Omokri, who was never a governor, was appointed an ambassador.”
Isaac Fayose recalled that his brother had previously told him he would not take up positions like senator, minister, or DG after leaving office as governor.
He however added, “I know he may not accept the appointment, but if he does, who am I to question him.”
The appointment comes amid ongoing political realignments and conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) actively engaging political figures across the country.
