Reps Panel Uncovers 29 Forged Documents Linked to 'Fake' PFIPCG

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the activities of the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) says it has uncovered at least 29 allegedly forged official documents tied to the fake agency and its self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew.

Committee Chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, disclosed this on Tuesday during the appearance of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, before the panel.

According to Gagdi, the forged documents were purportedly issued by key government institutions, including the State House, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), and the Federal Ministry of Finance. One document allegedly carried the forged signature of the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The committee has summoned 13 civil servants linked to the operations of the fake agency to appear before it, while directing the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to produce Adeyemi by noon today. Adeyemi has been in police custody since his arrest in Osun State on July 15, following a bench warrant issued after he failed to appear in court.

“This committee clearly needs the suspected DG to appear before it. People’s names and institutional integrity are involved. It is no longer optional,” Gagdi said.

Representing the IGP, Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi confirmed that some of the documents issued in the name of PFIPC were fake. He noted that police investigations were ongoing but revealed that an eight-count charge had already been filed against Adeyemi at the Federal High Court.

The committee stressed that Adeyemi’s presence was crucial to clarify issues surrounding the forged documents and to ensure its investigation is concluded without undermining public trust.
