The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) has warned that 14 states across the country face heightened risk of flooding in the coming weeks.
The agency explained that recent rainfall patterns and rising water levels in major rivers have increased the likelihood of floods, particularly in low-lying communities.
NIHSA urged residents in vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures, stressing that state governments must intensify preparedness and response strategies to minimize potential damage.
The warning comes as Nigeria enters its peak rainy season, a period often associated with severe flooding and displacement.
