Integrate Arabic Into Nigeria’s Educational Curriculum – Bala Mohammed Tells FG

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has called on the Federal Government to integrate Arabic education into Nigeria’s national curriculum to ensure equal recognition for graduates from Arabic-speaking countries.

Mohammed made the appeal while receiving a delegation of Saudi Arabian businessmen and leaders of Nigerian students studying in Saudi universities at the Government House in Bauchi.

The delegation was led by Dr. Shuaibu Abubakar Idris, Director of the Centre for Sunnah Studies in Africa.

The governor expressed concern over the neglect of Northern Nigeria’s Arabic educational heritage, stressing the region’s longstanding cultural and religious ties with the Arab world.

He recalled that Bauchi once had a thriving Arabic College in Alkaleri, lamenting its abandonment by past administrations, and urged the revival of such institutions to expand opportunities for future generations.

Dr. Idris explained that the visit was aimed at introducing Saudi investors interested in Bauchi’s economic development, while also briefing the governor on the Centre’s activities and its engagement with Nigerian students abroad.

Representatives of Nigerian students in Saudi universities thanked Governor Mohammed for his support, pledging to use their knowledge and experience to contribute to Bauchi State and Nigeria upon their return.
