2027: I Have no Intention to Dump APC for APM – Ex-Tinubu’s Minister, Adelabu

Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed speculation that he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Allied People’s Movement (APM), insisting he remains firmly committed to the ruling party.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, and released in Ibadan on Friday, Adelabu described the reports of his alleged defection as “false and baseless.”

Rumours had circulated earlier in the day claiming that Adelabu’s personal assistant, Ajiboye Akande, met with APM members to facilitate his principal’s move to the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Adelabu, however, denied the claims, stressing that neither he nor his aide had any intention of leaving the APC.

The former minister, who contested in the recent APC governorship primary in Oyo State, reaffirmed his respect for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as his political mentor.

He emphasized his continued belief in the APC’s leadership and democratic process.“The public is urged to disregard the false narrative linking Mr Ajiboye Akande or Chief Adebayo Adelabu to any impending defection to the APM,” the statement read.

“The rumour is mischievous and clearly intended to create confusion where none exists.”Adelabu reiterated his loyalty to the APC, pledging to remain an active and committed member of the party.
