Kidnap Ransom Scandal: I’ve Never Seen N1billion Cash in My Life – Ndume

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has dismissed allegations linking him to ransom payments for kidnappers, insisting he has never handled such sums of money.

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, Ndume described the claims made by Samaila Kaigame, leader of the Borno South Youth Alliance, as baseless.

Kaigame had alleged that the lawmaker acted as an intermediary in ransom negotiations.Ndume, the longest-serving senator in the red chamber, said: “In my life, I have never seen N1 billion cash, not to talk of N5 billion.”

He explained that after Kaigame’s accusations, he immediately contacted the National Security Adviser and the Department of State Services (DSS), urging them to investigate the matter thoroughly.

The senator stressed that the allegations touch on national and international security, given the involvement of terrorist groups such as ISWAP.

He maintained that he does not support negotiations with Boko Haram or ransom payments, noting that his refusal to contribute to ransom demands may have triggered the false claims.

Ndume urged security agencies to take the matter seriously and give Kaigame the opportunity to substantiate his allegations, while reiterating his stance against ransom payments to insurgents.
