Troops Rescue Eight Kidnap Victims in Plateau Forest

Soldiers of Sector 9, Operation ENDURING PEACE, have rescued eight kidnapped victims during a raid on Pandam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation, carried out around 3:00 a.m. on June 24, followed credible intelligence on the presence of kidnappers in the area, according to a statement by the task force’s Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Oteh.

Gun battle with kidnappers: Troops deployed in Namu Town engaged the suspects in a firefight, forcing them to flee. Three victims escaped during the chaos.

Follow-up search:

A subsequent combing of the forest led to the rescue of five more victims, bringing the total to eight.

The rescued individuals are in stable condition, with efforts underway to reunite them with their families.

Local communities applauded the operation and pledged continued cooperation with security agencies. The military confirmed that troops are pursuing the fleeing kidnappers to ensure their arrest or neutralisation.

“This successful operation has been highly applauded by members of the local communities, who indicated willingness to continue to provide useful information to ensure the arrest of the kidnappers,” the statement added.

The rescue highlights ongoing efforts by Operation ENDURING PEACE to restore security and disrupt criminal networks across Plateau State.
