Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have dismantled an ISWAP roadblock along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, rescuing 53 civilians and recovering eight vehicles seized by insurgents.

The operation, carried out on June 24 by the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2, was confirmed in a statement issued by the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force North East and signed by Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni.

Surveillance detection: Troops stationed at Dutse Kura identified the terrorists blocking the highway through surveillance cameras.

A Quick Reaction Force was immediately dispatched, engaging the insurgents in a gun battle that forced them to retreat towards the Mangari–Dora area.

53 civilians were freed and eight vehicles recovered, all safely evacuated to Buratai town. The rescued victims are undergoing documentation and medical evaluation.

The Theatre Command praised the professionalism and swift response of the troops, urging residents to remain vigilant and provide timely intelligence.

The military noted that the security situation in the area remains calm, with troops maintaining dominance and continuing offensive operations against insurgents.
