Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Kayode Are, has hinted that President Bola Tinubu may soon undertake an official visit to the United States, potentially including a meeting with President Donald Trump.
Are expressed optimism that the visit could materialise before the end of President Tinubu’s current tenure, citing the strong and cordial bilateral relations between the two leaders and ongoing diplomatic engagements.
Speaking on the prospects, the ambassador noted that while presidential travel schedules depend on various strategic factors, the excellent rapport between President Tinubu and President Trump provides a solid foundation for such a high-level meeting.
“With the excellent relations between the two, I’m sure we will be able to get that done one way or the other,” he said.
The comments come amid sustained diplomatic activities between Nigeria and the US, aimed at strengthening ties in areas such as trade, security, and economic cooperation.
A Tinubu-Trump meeting would likely focus on deepening bilateral partnerships and addressing mutual interests on the global stage.
No official date has been confirmed yet, as arrangements for such presidential visits typically involve extensive coordination between the two governments.
