Three Ex-Osun Lawmakers Dump APC

Three former lawmakers in the Osun State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The chieftains , Lekan Oyediran, Aleem Bakare, and Folorunso Oladoyin submitted their resignation letters to the local government chairmen of the party between June 1 and 2, 2026.

While Aleem Bakare cited a lack of internal democracy as his reason for leaving, the other two did not state any specific reasons in their resignation letters.

Oyediran represented Odo Otin State Constituency between 1999 and 2003, Bakare represented Ejigbo State Constituency from 2003 to 2007, and Oladoyin represented Ife South State Constituency from 2011 to 2019.

Oladoyin later served as Commissioner for Education under former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, while Bakare was Special Adviser to the governor on Land Matters.

The three ex-lawmakers are known allies of former Osun Deputy Governor Senator Iyiola Omisore, who has maintained a low profile in the party since the APC governorship primary in December 2025.

Reacting to the development, the spokesperson for Senator Omisore’s Campaign Organisation, Jamiu Olawumi, confirmed that the three were close allies of Omisore but clarified that he did not instruct them to leave the party.

He attributed their exit to personal political calculations.Osun APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi described the development as normal in a democracy, saying the party was not in any panic mode.

He noted that the APC had gained more high-profile members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) than it had lost.
