RCCG Defends Adeboye, Denies Endorsing Any Political Party Ahead of 2027

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has defended General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye against what it called “false narratives and deliberate misrepresentations” about his political stance.

In a statement Tuesday via its official X handle, RCCG said “the lies have gone on long enough. It stops now!!!” and accused bloggers and media outlets of circulating misleading claims about Adeboye’s views on politics and governance without verification.

The church insisted Adeboye and RCCG maintain neutrality. “Pastor E.A. Adeboye has always encouraged members of The Redeemed Christian Church of God to get their PVCs and vote for anyone of their choice. He has always maintained a neutral stance on political parties, as members of the Church are members of various political parties,” it stated.

RCCG also debunked claims that Adeboye campaigned for any government or party, or called off a planned protest. It said he only relayed PFN’s directive to hold the Three-Day Prayer Program finale at a centralised venue with a rally.

The church noted Adeboye has spoken on national issues like insecurity, corruption, and elections, but “chooses the language of moral guidance, prayer, and counsel rather than partisan political confrontation.”

RCCG urged journalists and the public to fact-check through its official PR channels before publishing statements attributed to Adeboye or the church: “Verify before you believe. Fact-check before you publish. Truth matters.”
