Only Atiku, His Son, Handful of Loyalists Remain in ADC – Imran Wakili

Political commentator Imran Wakili has claimed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is now largely isolated within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, with most key figures who built the party’s coalition having departed.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Wakili asserted that none of the major political heavyweights who helped establish the coalition in Adamawa remain with Atiku in the ADC. He held the former presidential candidate responsible for the ongoing crisis in the party.

According to Wakili, former governorship candidate Aishatu Binani has moved to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), while former Governor Jibrilla Bindow is currently weighing his options. He added that former Senator Ishaku Abbo defected to the Labour Party and Abdulaziz Nyako joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).“Atiku is left with his son Adamu, Baba 10, and the likes,” Wakili wrote. “Baba really fumbled Adamawa. We warned them, but they said we don’t like Atiku. Nah, I don’t dislike him, I am just a realist.”

The comments come amid escalating tensions in the ADC, following the resignation of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, who accused the party of manipulating its recent primaries in favour of Atiku.
