NSCDC Officers Arrested Over Colleague’s Death as Police Discover N2bn in Suspect’s Account


The Nigeria Police Force has arrested at least three officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals Unit in connection with the death of their senior colleague, Agada Levi Agada, during an operation in Nasarawa State. 


According to a police statement, the Force Intelligence Department (FID) launched an investigation into Agada’s death following a petition from the deceased’s family lawyer. The arrested NSCDC personnel have been identified as Simeon Yakubu Anyebe, Ibrahim Ayefu, and Iwodi Obochi. 


Agada was reportedly shot while on duty during an operation at Rafin Gabas in the Agwada area of Nasarawa State.In a related development, police investigators traced over N2 billion to a Zenith Bank account (number 1008392780) belonging to an NSCDC Mining Marshal identified as Sergeant Labaran. Authorities are working to establish the source and purpose of the funds, as well as any connections to other suspects in the case. 


Several other Mining Marshal personnel were invited for questioning but reportedly failed to appear, prompting further police action.The discovery of the large sum has raised questions about possible financial impropriety within the unit, which is tasked with combating illegal mining activities. Investigations are ongoing.
