A young boy has been killed and several Muslim worshippers injured after bandits attacked a mosque during Maghrib prayers in Namama community, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening amid heavy rainfall, as worshippers gathered for prayers.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, who shared details of the attack on X, the bandits stormed the mosque and opened fire indiscriminately on those inside.
A boy identified as Adamu was killed in the attack, while several other worshippers sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
“How many more civilians must lose their lives in places of worship before effective measures are taken to protect vulnerable communities?” Bakatsine queried, as prayers continue for the quick recovery of the injured.
This latest attack adds to the growing concerns over the persistent insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, where banditry and kidnapping have remained a serious challenge despite repeated military operations in the region.
