Primate Elijah Ayodele, Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has strongly criticised Nigerian politicians in the wake of the recent abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State, describing them as heartless and “satanic” to the nation.
In a statement issued on Sunday through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the popular cleric expressed deep frustration over the country’s worsening security situation and the government’s response to it.
He lamented the failure of both political leaders and some religious figures to address the nation’s challenges effectively.
Ayodele questioned the effectiveness of Nigeria’s security architecture, asking why warnings about impending dangers are often ignored.
“Our politicians are heartless and satanic to the nation, and there is no way nemesis will not fight,” he said.
He also accused some clerics of compromising their roles by aligning too closely with the government and failing to speak truth to power.
The prophet described the abduction incident as a disgrace to religious bodies such as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), as well as Islamic organisations, for not giving the government the candid advice it needs.
He issued a direct warning to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to take all necessary actions to rescue the abducted victims and improve security, or risk being “disgraced out of office.”
Ayodele added that if the children die in captivity, the President should forget any ambition for a second term, drawing parallels to challenges faced during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
The cleric also criticised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that the governor attended a political rally to declare his presidential ambition despite the security crisis in his state. He called this a misplaced priority amid the suffering of innocent citizens.
Primate Ayodele claimed he had personally warned about the vulnerability of schools in Oyo State on multiple occasions in videos and prophecies, but his alerts were not taken seriously. He called on government-aligned pastors to stop compromising and speak out boldly.
The comments come as security forces continue efforts to rescue the abducted students and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
