The Accord Party has officially affirmed prominent businessman and politician Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
This followed a successful nationwide affirmation primary exercise conducted across several states, where he emerged unopposed but secured strong formal endorsement from party members.
According to results released on Sunday, Olawepo-Hashim polled a total of 423,902 affirmative votes.
Party officials described the process as peaceful, transparent, and credible, highlighting the deep confidence members have in his leadership and vision for Nigeria.
Jigawa State recorded the highest votes with 198,200, followed by Kano State with 124,101. Other states that participated included Nasarawa (47,309), Kebbi (46,852), Lagos (4,548), and Kwara (3,348).
Announcing the outcome, the Returning Officer for Kebbi State, Yahaya Mohammed, noted that the primaries were conducted in line with the party’s guidelines and reflected overwhelming support for the candidate.
A massive turnout of party members and supporters was recorded across the participating states.
Although Olawepo-Hashim was the sole aspirant, the party opted for the affirmation process to democratically ratify his candidacy.
Supporters hailed the development as a major milestone, expressing optimism that the Accord Party would offer Nigerians a credible alternative in the 2027 presidential race.
Olawepo-Hashim’s emergence adds to the growing list of contenders positioning themselves ahead of the elections, as political activities intensify with consultations and coalition-building.
