The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone E (North-East), has announced a three-day peaceful protest to demand urgent action over the abduction of 42 students from Government Day Secondary School, Mussa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The demonstrations, scheduled for June 5–7, will be held simultaneously across Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba states.
In a statement signed by Lukman Yusuf, Chief of Staff to the Zone E Coordinator, NANS said the protest aims to draw national attention to the plight of the abducted students, express solidarity with their families, and press the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts.
“This demonstration is to highlight the suffering of the abducted students and their families, while calling for stronger measures to protect learners nationwide,” the statement read.
Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Muazu Hina, reaffirmed NANS’ commitment to advocating for the safe return of the victims and improved security in schools.
The association directed its structures across the North-East including Joint Campus Committees, Students’ Union executives, and stakeholders to mobilise members while ensuring the protests remain peaceful and orderly.
NANS stressed that the action is intended to sustain public attention on the incident and support ongoing efforts to secure the release of the abducted students.
