The Nigerian military has neutralised several insurgents and destroyed a gun truck in a precision airstrike conducted under Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development on his X handle on Sunday, citing military sources.
According to the sources, the operation took place on June 4, 2026, following credible intelligence and aerial surveillance that identified terrorist activity in the Madamari general area of Magumeri Local Government Area.
An Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform spotted approximately 15 suspected terrorists who had dismounted from a gun truck and gathered under a tree.
After confirmation of hostile activity, a strike aircraft was guided to the location and engaged the group, neutralising all terrorists present.
In a follow-up strike, the surveillance platform tracked and destroyed the terrorists’ gun truck, with four additional terrorists reportedly eliminated.
A subsequent Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) showed that surviving terrorists in the area fled in various directions to avoid further strikes.
The strikes are part of ongoing efforts by the military’s air component to degrade terrorist capabilities in the North East.
