The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday that it had killed Sakr Abu Karim, a commander in Hamas’s elite Nukhba force, in a targeted strike in the southern Gaza Strip.
According to the IDF and Shin Bet, Abu Karim was one of the leaders of the Hamas infiltration into the Kisufim area during the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
Throughout the ongoing conflict, he allegedly planned and executed attacks against Israeli troops.
The military stated that Abu Karim had recently violated a ceasefire agreement by attempting to rebuild Hamas’s military capabilities.
He was also reportedly storing a large cache of weapons at his residence and conducting terrorist training.
A second Hamas operative, who served as a communications specialist, was killed in the same strike.
In a statement posted on X, the IDF declared: “ELIMINATED: Sakr Abu Karim, a Hamas Nukhba cell commander who was among the leaders of the infiltration into the Kisufim area during the October 7 massacre.”
Hamas had not issued an immediate comment on the Israeli claims as of the time of the report. The development comes amid continued tensions in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
