Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin has received Makoda lawmaker Muhammad Ahmad Tomas back into the All Progressives Congress, marking another shift in Kano’s politics ahead of 2027.
Tomas, who represents Makoda State Constituency in the Kano Assembly, defected from the Nigeria Democratic Congress to APC during a visit to Barau’s Abuja residence on Monday. He was accompanied by Makoda LG Chairman Alhaji Isa Currency and Dambatta LG Chairman Alhaji Jamilu Abubakar Dambatta.
Barau described the return as “timely and significant,” saying it reflected commitment to progress and good governance.
“Today, I had the honour of receiving back Hon. Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Makoda State Constituency, to our great party, the All Progressives Congress, from the Nigeria Democratic Congress,” Barau said.
He added that Tomas’ decision would strengthen APC’s position in Kano North Senatorial District and across Kano State, and assured him of equal opportunity in the party.
“Together, we will continue to work tirelessly for the growth and success of our party, Kano North Senatorial District, Kano State and Nigeria as a whole,” Barau added.
