Ayo Fayose says President Bola Tinubu remains the clear favourite for the 2027 presidential election, arguing that a divided opposition cannot mount a serious challenge.
Speaking Monday on Channels TV’s _Politics Today_, Fayose said opposition parties weakened themselves by failing to unite.
“Nobody is contesting against Tinubu. You may not like to hear this. There is a difference between reality and noise on social media,” he said.
Fayose added that Tinubu would have faced a tougher contest if opposition leaders stayed in one coalition. “If the opposition coalition had remained together and were to be in one party against Tinubu, I would say Tinubu would get a run for his money,” he stated.
He blamed the emergence of multiple parties like NDC and ADC for diluting opposition chances. “They have destroyed their journey by themselves,” he said.
Drawing parallels with 2023, Fayose said Tinubu benefited from Atiku and Obi splitting votes, and predicted a repeat in 2027: “Tinubu will have his way with ease.”
He also defended Tinubu on security, saying the president inherited worsening insecurity from Buhari’s administration and “has given his best.”
