I Have no Hand in Adelabu’s Sister’s Kidnapping — Senator Alli

Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 elections in Oyo State, has firmly denied allegations linking him to the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Adegoke, younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

In a statement released by his media office and posted on his X handle on Sunday, Alli described the reports circulating on social media as “false, malicious, baseless, irresponsible, defamatory, and politically motivated.”

Mrs. Adegoke was abducted on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, along with her twin sons while driving them to school in Ibadan.

They were rescued unharmed on Saturday during a police operation that neutralized two suspects and recovered firearms.Alli, who recently defeated Adelabu in the APC governorship primaries, stressed that the claims against him were based on unverified allegations allegedly made by a suspect under investigation.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Alli has no connection whatsoever with the said criminal incident, the individuals mentioned, or any activity related to kidnapping or violence,” the statement read.

He condemned attempts to link campaign materials or political rivalry to criminality, calling such efforts a “desperate agenda” by detractors.

The senator urged the public to disregard the false reports and avoid spreading misinformation that could undermine security investigations or heighten political tension.

Alli reaffirmed his opposition to kidnapping and other crimes, noting his consistent support for strengthening security in Oyo State and Nigeria.

He also called on security agencies to investigate the source of the allegations and bring those behind the fake news to justice.
