APC Accuses Abia Govt of N5bn Plot to Destabilise Party

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Alex Otti’s Labour Party administration of earmarking N5 billion to destabilise the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement by state Publicity Secretary Uche Aguoru, the APC alleged that a businessman close to the governor was used to funnel the funds to individuals at the APC national headquarters and a frontline aspirant to manufacture an internal crisis.

The party also claimed the state government tried and failed to hijack its recent primary elections by backing backdoor candidates.

"If Governor Otti and the Labour Party are truly confident of the loyalty of Abians, why the desperation? Why deploy taxpayers’ money on political misadventures?" the statement questioned.

The APC warned that the administration will be held accountable at the 2027 polls for major expenses, including N54 billion for 51 smart schools and billions more budgeted for recreational and ICT facilities, alongside unpaid pensions and minimum wage entitlements.

Under the leadership of Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the APC declared itself unified and confident of a clean sweep in the state come 2027.
