Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has commended troops of the Joint Task Force (North-West) Operation Fansan Yamma for their recent operational successes against bandits in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, the governor praised the troops for coordinated operations launched in the early hours of May 7 across Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas.
The operations led to the elimination of three bandit leaders. Security forces also recovered an AK-47 rifle, a machine gun, a locally fabricated handgun, seven rifle magazines, and 571 rounds of ammunition.
Lawal described the renewed military offensive as timely. He also highlighted another successful operation on May 10 in Tumfa village, Shinkafi LGA, where intelligence indicated that suspected terrorist leaders had gathered to plan attacks on communities.
The air component of the operation conducted a precision airstrike on the hideout, destroying the structure used as their meeting point.
The governor reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting the military and other security agencies with the necessary logistics and assistance in the fight against banditry and terrorism in Zamfara State.
