Yerima Shettima has withdrawn from the contest for the Kaduna Central Senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged full support for all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Shettima announced his decision on Sunday, May 17, 2026, after wide consultations. He described the withdrawal as a move to promote party unity and discipline.
“This decision is not borne out of fear but from my commitment to the progress of our party,” he said.
He urged his supporters to rally behind the party’s official candidates and called for reconciliation among APC members in Kaduna.
Shettima also reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, while thanking members of his campaign structure for their support.
The move is expected to strengthen APC cohesion in the senatorial district ahead of the next general elections.
