President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the murder of a teacher in Oyo State, describing the attack as barbaric.
Gunmen invaded schools in Ahoro-Esinele community, Oriire Local Government Area, killing one teacher (reportedly Michael Oyedokun, who was later beheaded in captivity) and abducting the school principal, several other teachers, and an unspecified number of pupils.
The President directed security agencies to intensify operations for the immediate and safe rescue of all abducted victims.
He expressed deep concern over the attack on innocent school children and educators.Security forces, including the police, military, Amotekun, and local hunters, have been deployed in the area.
Several suspects have already been arrested, with operations ongoing to track the kidnappers believed to be hiding in nearby forests.
Governor Seyi Makinde has confirmed the incident and vowed justice for the victims, while teachers in the state have staged protests demanding better security for schools.
The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and protecting lives, especially in educational institutions.
